so, I had access to both linux and windows server for quite a while now.
especially the linux server.
so it's time to compare them!
comparison time!
linux has that modularity baked in, update 100 random packages that are for the system?
no problem, unless you're updating the kernel itself.
then you need to reboot.
but overall reboots are less often
when windows updates, you have to reboot
there's no way around it.
windows is way simpler to manage, though, so whoever wants simplicity will feel at home with a windows server.
it's basically windows desktop with less strict windows defender, server-specific menus, and no package manager.
so to recap
both systems have their pros and cons, and it depends on you what you want or need.
and, don't forget, coffee is life!
drink a coffee before you touch any server, that's a hint from a person who removed a database by accident because of lack of coffee.
let your administration be smooth, backup often.
and don't forget, a borked server is a bad server.
